I think the violence is more in terms of context.

The game is violent and brutal, but it isn't terrible compared to other things. It is no different to games in the Battlefield franchise and deserves the substantial popularity it’s gained over the years.ĬSM definitely went a little overboard with their review. To summarise, Call of Duty is very misunderstood in the gaming world, and does not deserve the age rating of 18, which puts many parents off when looking into buying it for their child. The game is great to bring friends together and they will have much fun playing with and against each other. Bear in mind that a teenager will probably not be affected by this anyway, if they have seen any movies with blood and go to a secondary school where you would hear much worse than the words used in the game such as: “s***, b**** and a**.” There is also a great deal of information about the World Wars 1 and 2 in the franchise, so your child will learn some extra knowledge on the events that happened, the places, and the machinery they used which may be useful for their classes at school. If you don’t want them to hear any mild swearing, you can turn it off. If you don’t want your kid to be exposed to the small spurts of blood, you can turn it off.

Many parents may be skeptical about letting their child play this game, but lots of the features that make COD seem bad can be turned off in settings. COD is a great game for teens and young teens alike, and is so popular between the ages of 12-17. I am a professional game developer for PlayStation and specialise in action shooters like Call of Duty. PARENTS, PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW AND RETHINK LETTING YOUR KIDS OVER THE AGE OF 9 TO BUY THIS GAME!!! I can't believe how much CSM has lied to all the parents trying to decide if they are going to buy this for their kids. The dismemberment and gore isn't much at all, AND you can even turn it off in the settings.

There is barely any swearing in the entire game, and the violence Is about the same level as Rise of the tomb raider. I wanted to know If it was okay for them, so I bought the game for myself, and It was perfectly fine! I wanted to see what CSM had to say about it, and to my surprise They had put it at 18+!?!? I was so confused why they had done this, so I checked their individual reasons why It was 18+ and, all of them were wrong. I had Call of duty black ops 3, and that game was a little overboard with violence and swearing. I am a father of 2 boys age 10 and 9 And they begged me for this game, and in the beginning, I wasn't so sure. I have never been more disappointed with Common sense media's reviews In my life. Call of duty modern warfare Is 100% Okay for kids over the age of 8 and 9.
